Course details

5 Tuesdays, starting October 1 to 31, meeting from 19:00 – 21:00 (New York Time) for 2-hour online sessions. This creative writing course class size is 6 – 12 people. Price includes all fees. If you want to write a screenplay that will get made, you need two things: a great script and an insider understanding of the film industry. This course will give you the tools to write your best work and real-world insights from working film professionals. This course is for aspiring screenwriters who want to learn the fundamentals of screenwriting and receive guidance on navigating the film industry. If you’re a screenwriter trying to figure out the story you want to tell, have a draft and are unsure what to do with it, or have always wanted to write a script but don’t know where to start, then you’re in the right place. The course is collaborative, with participants preparing ideas and drafts between sessions, working together to discuss, give feedback, and learn to edit their writing. You’ll gain the tools and confidence to complete a full, feature-length screenplay. You’ll also have written a revised screenplay draft by the final session if you're committed. The introduction to screenwriting course will help aspiring screenwriters: -Unearth the story they want to tell -Understand screenplay format and film structure -Write visually and action-based -Plot out beats, scenes and acts for their story -Create a compelling and conflicted protagonist -Think like actors and directors -Draft and revise a full screenplay -Write to budget -Self-promote, find funding and win awards You’ll also gain insider knowledge on how to structure your screenplay for success, hear from working professionals and learn what NOT to put in the script. About your instructor: Peter is an Australian actor, writer and director based in NYC. He is the founder of the production company Street Kid Collective.
